Itunes, AOL Latino, and Nacional Records are giving away a free 20 track sampler. The tracks include songs from artists such as Manu Chao, Aterciopelados, Los Fabulosos Cadillacs, Pacha Massive, Plastilina Mosh and Mexican Institute of Sound. Get it here (iTunes will open to download the sampler).
Metric's new album is up for preorder. There are several packages, including vinyl and digital download. The few songs I've heard sound great and some of them can be previewed in the player below or at the bottom of their website. Also, join their email list to get a free download of an acoustic version of "Help I'm Alive".

Personally, I think Emily Haines is the most desirable indie frontwoman around. Any thoughts on this?
New Cold War Kids video. This is by far my favorite song on their new album.
Vinyl is back. While it only accounts for 0.01% of all music sales, vinyl sales went up 89% in 2008 as compared to 2007. It would be interesting to see how these numbers compare to vinyl sales when vinyl was the format to buy music. Check out the article here.

Better than twitter? Or should I set up one of those too? At what point does one's internet presence become overextended?

Check back in a few weeks for my Best of '08 list. This album will definitely be on there.
Folie a Deux sounds pretty good on my first listen through. Although they've gained a lot of popularity in the last few years, I think it's all deserved. They work pretty hard and the music is catchy. Many people are still stuck on Take This to Your Grave, which was - and is - an amazing album. But good bands mature and change. This can definitely be seen in Fall Out Boy's subsequent albums and I think it has been a good thing. My music tastes have changed since 2003 and it seems, FOB have changed enough to still make them relevant to me. And relevant to a few more million people as well. Oh well, I guess sharing is a good thing, right?

Download the new album for $3.99 (as of right now) on AmazonMP3, $9.99 on iTunes.
Purchase a hard copy from Amazon.
Get on it before every song is a single.
For at least the next week, City and Colour's Bring Me Your Love will be selling for $1.99 on AmazonMP3. That is $1.99 for the entire album. This album ranks in my top 10 for the year and it has tremendous staying power so far. Don't miss out on this deal - plus its less than 2 bucks!
